The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Maui College<\/a> has earned accreditation for the next eight years from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC<\/abbr>) Senior College and University Commission. The commission\u2019s decision was based on a campus visit in March, as well as supporting information and documentation prepared by deans, faculty coordinator, and their support staff all led by Dean and Accreditation Liaison Officer Laura Lees Nagle<\/strong>. In all, it took 18 months to prepare for the review.<\/p>\n

The accreditation process is meant to ensure that colleges such as UH<\/abbr> Maui College have the resources, policies and practices to achieve their educational goals, and is able to show the review team the quality of their programs.<\/p>\n

The commission commended UH<\/abbr> Maui College for its support of the greater community at large\u2014citing the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination clinics as one example \u2014the culture of collaboration among administrators, staff and faculty, student-centered focus, and clear communication about the college\u2019s unique mission, goals and objectives.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve still got some work to do in certain areas like enrollment and student assessment and success data but I\u2019m very happy about our accomplishment,” said UH<\/abbr> Maui College Chancellor Lui Hokoana<\/strong>. “One of the things I\u2019m proudest of is the review team\u2019s acknowledgement that UHMC<\/abbr> is an integral part of our wider Maui Nui community.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
