The search has officially begun for the next dean of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology<\/a> (SOEST<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

SOEST<\/abbr> is geographically advantaged with outstanding and unique access to deep oceans, land biomes, space resources and multiple knowledge systems, and features world-renowned faculty and staff. SOEST is globally recognized as a premier institution for research and education in geosciences and life sciences. Through an integration of research, education and diverse knowledge systems, SOEST<\/abbr> works to transform the collective understanding of these islands, the world, and the way people live by fostering healthy and resilient communities and environments.<\/p>\n

Denise Eby Konan<\/strong>, dean of the College of Social Sciences, is chairing the search advisory committee, whose members include a chair, faculty, staff and students from within SOEST<\/abbr> and from other UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa units, as well as representatives from the Kualiʻi<\/span> Council, and the industry community.<\/p>\n

The committee will recommend finalists to UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno, who will then recommend a nominee to UH<\/abbr> President David Lassner.<\/p>\n
