The <abbr>NCAA<\/abbr> Championship was held on May 7 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. This was the third straight title match appearance for <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr>, beating <abbr title=\"Brigham Young University\">BYU<\/abbr> in straight sets in 2021 and falling to Long Beach State in four sets in 2019 (no NCAA tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/manoa-athletics-volleyball-national-championship-lbsu-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"players huddled in a circle while people in stands cheer\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-158759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/manoa-athletics-volleyball-national-championship-lbsu-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/manoa-athletics-volleyball-national-championship-lbsu-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/manoa-athletics-volleyball-national-championship-lbsu.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Bows got to the championship after taking down Ball State in a five-set marathon semifinal match, and defeating North Greenville in the opening round in straight sets. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> ended the season with a 27-5 record, while the Beach fell to 21-6.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore outside hitter and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2022\/05\/03\/rainbow-warrior-volleyball-all-americans\/\">second team All-American<\/a> <strong>Spyros Chakas<\/strong> led the Rainbow Warriors with 14 kills.
