This week\u2019s University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> Pepsi Athletes of the Week are Chloe Domingo<\/strong> from the softball team<\/a> and Martin Soukal<\/strong> from the men\u2019s tennis team<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Vulcan softball team is back home from a 15-game road trip. Last weekend the Vulcans wrapped up their trip with an annual appearance at the Tournament of Champions hosted by California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock, Calif.<\/p>\n

Domingo went 7-17 in the five-game tournament with two extra-base hits, scoring three times and driving in five RBIs. Three of Domingo\u2019s five RBIs<\/abbr> were scored in UH<\/abbr> Hilo\u2019s 7-5 win over California State University, San Bernardino. Domingo had the game-tying double (5-5) in the fifth and chipped in the final insurance run in the sixth (7-5).<\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo men\u2019s tennis team captured a crucial win against No. 4 Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Pacific University (HPU<\/abbr>) on April 2. Soukal, the No. 3 ranked player in the nation, set the tone for the Vulcans by winning the first singles match after UH<\/abbr> Hilo dropped the doubles point.<\/p>\n

Soukal topped HPU<\/abbr>\u2019s Jan Pleva 6-1, 6-3 in 49 minutes which tied the match up 1-1 for UH<\/abbr> Hilo. Soukal improved to 12-2 from the first court on his senior day.<\/p>\n
