The award offers tuition savings of up to $3,144, and, for many, a chance to attend college.<\/p>\n<p>On- and off-campus jobs will allow students to work, earn money and gain valuable experience while pursuing their degrees. Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> offers jobs on campus with flexible schedules to support students during class time and exam periods, and partners with Windward area businesses that provide college-friendly workplaces.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span> allows our students to pursue college and the rewarding, often higher-paying careers it opens doors to, growing the students and providing for our families and communities. Our seniors are our next community leaders! <span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span>, through the generosity of Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, provides the possibility for college and a pathway to leadership!&rdquo; said Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> Chancellor <strong>Ardis Eschenberg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Graduating seniors in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s class of 2022 can apply now for the upcoming summer and fall 2022 semesters at <a href=\"http:\/\/kamaaina.hawaii.edu\/\">kamaaina.hawaii.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Helping students persist during COVID-19<\/h2>\n<p>Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> has made a significant commitment to serving the needs of students during the COVID-19 pandemic by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2020\/08\/24\/meals-with-a-mission-windward-cc\/\">providing food to hungry students<\/a> through the Meals with a Mission program.<\/p>\n<p>Now, $400,000 of tuition support is available to high school graduates attending Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> over the next two years. The <span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span> Tuition Award was created with a grant from Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. From connecting me to auditions with theatre companies to helping me get scholarships. I\u2019m just so thankful for all of these opportunities that I\u2019ve been offered,&rdquo; said Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> theatre student <strong>Alysia-Leila Kepaa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the unique range of programs offered at Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span aria-label=\"Hawaiiloa\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½loa<\/span><\/strong>, first online Hawaiian studies degree in the world, which is offered to the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> diaspora in a series of 8-week classes taken two at a time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Business Core<\/strong>, 8-week online classes taken two at a time fulfills Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr>\u2019s academic subject certificate in business and prerequisites needed to transfer into <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s Shidler College of Business.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liberal Arts <abbr>AA<\/abbr> online degree with entrepreneurship focus<\/strong>, earn an associate\u2019s degree in a series of 8-week online courses designed to support starting your own business.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veterinary Technology AS degree<\/strong>, the first and only degree of its kind in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, and <strong>Veterinary Assisting certificate<\/strong>, leading to jobs in the veterinary medicine field, now offered in a hybrid format.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Agripharmatech certificate<\/strong>, an entrepreneurial emphasis on plant-based bioproduct research, design and manufacturing prepares students for work or higher education.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Conservatory of Performing Arts<\/strong>, professional preparation in dance, acting and stage combat; students demonstrate skills in award-winning performances at Palik\u016b Theatre and beyond.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span aria-label=\"Kaohekane\">Ka&#699;ohekane<\/span><\/strong>, one-year online certificate in Hawaiian music focuses on performance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gallery &#699;Iolani<\/strong> where design, ceramics and painting students exhibit their works.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unique noncredit programs<\/strong> such as ocean recreation safety, certified nurse\u2019s aide and leadership training, focusing on workforce development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;We cherish all the young people in Windward <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and hope this tuition award makes it a little easier to pursue their most ambitious dreams.
