The new plan will replace the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hawaii.edu\/strategicdirections\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½<\/a>. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> President <strong>David Lassner<\/strong> sent an email on March 8 to <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students and employees outlining the timeline for the plan development and asking everyone to participate.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/vp-academic-strategy\/uh-strategic-plan-2023-2029\/\">Â鶹´«Ã½ning Website<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I hope that you will lend your voice, experience and aloha to this important participatory process,&rdquo; said Lassner. &ldquo;Our current <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Strategic Directions have guided us at a high level, and our post-pandemic plans have helped us focus on what <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> needs most from public higher education during these challenging times. Please note the opportunities for each of you to participate in the work this calendar year.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>March: Appointment of <abbr>UH<\/abbr>-wide Steering Committees<\/strong><br \/>\nAll campuses and shared governance groups have been invited to submit names to be considered for appointment to the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> strategic plan steering committee.<\/li>\n<li><strong>April: <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Internal Survey<\/strong><br \/>\nFaculty, staff and students will be invited to respond to an initial survey on the thematic recommendations and strategies that emerged from core planning documents including the &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ovppp\/stratdirections\/Reimagining_UH_Jan_V8_updated.pdf\">Reimagining<\/a>&rdquo; report (<span class=\"small-text\"><abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/span>), <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/president\/post-pandemic-hawaii\/\">Post-Pandemic <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ovppp\/thirddecade\/Third_Decade_and_Next_Steps_memo_2.5.21x.pdf\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr>, the Third Decade Report<\/a><\/em> (<span class=\"small-text\"><abbr>PDF<\/abbr><\/span>) and the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/aa\/IAFP_BOR_Approved_April17.pdf\">Integrated Academic and Facilities Plan<\/a><\/em> (<span class=\"small-text\"><abbr>PDF<\/abbr><\/span>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early May: Feedback on Input<\/strong><br \/>\nFollowing analysis and review of survey results, town hall discussions will be held on and off <abbr>UH<\/abbr> campuses with internal and external constituents and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>June&#8211;August: First Draft<\/strong><br \/>\nSteering committee begins to develop the first draft of the plan including goals, strategies, tactics and recommended metrics.<\/li>\n<li><strong>September: Review of and Consultation on First Draft<\/strong><br \/>\nGovernance groups, all members of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> community and external stakeholders will be invited to provide input and suggestions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>October: Refine Draft<\/strong><br \/>\nSteering committee continues to refine the draft plan based on feedback with attention to assignment of responsibilities, timelines and resource requirements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>November&#8211;December: Approval Process<\/strong><br \/>\nProposed <em><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½ 2023&#8211;2029<\/em> presented to the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Board of Regents for consideration of approval at a public meeting following public testimony.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;It is an aggressive timeline, but it will help us all to have a new <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½ in place as soon as feasible,&rdquo; said Lassner. &ldquo;I hope you will join me in the planning for our future, a future that is bright because of each and every one of you.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>An email will be sent in April to all students, faculty and staff with a link to the survey on the thematic recommendations and strategies.
