The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa has responded to that need with its new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outreach.hawaii.edu\/programs\/master-of-public-health-with-a-specialization-in-health-policy-and-management\/\">online master of public health (<abbr>MPH<\/abbr>) with a specialization in health policy and management<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The application deadline has been extended with a priority deadline of March 1, for candidates interested in enrolling in the program\u2019s inaugural fall 2022 semester. <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/sites\/manoa.hawaii.edu.publichealth\/files\/downloads\/phapp.pdf\">Apply here<\/a> (<small><abbr title=\"portable document format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/small>). <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Related <em><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> News<\/em> story: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/11\/15\/online-public-health-degree\/\">New online master\u2019s degree in public health for busy professionals<\/a>, November 15, 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;There has been a growing demand in the community for public health jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic,&rdquo; said <strong>Tetine Sentell<\/strong>, interim dean of the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/thompson\">Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/a>. &ldquo;From professionals already in the health sector looking to improve their skills and credentials, to those wanting to pivot to a new job and serve their communities, to those who have always wanted to attain a master\u2019s degree but had no time due to other priorities, this degree was created for you.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<h2>Online degree provides option for busy professionals<\/h2>\n<p>Geared for busy professionals, the degree offered through the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/\">Office of Public Health Studies<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outreach.hawaii.edu\/\">Outreach College<\/a> is a new pathway to an <abbr>MPH<\/abbr>, and can be completed in as early as 21 months. Asynchronous classes offered online allow for flexible, year-round learning, and enables students to pursue a master\u2019s degree at their own pace. Breaks are also built into the program calendar so students can take time needed away from coursework. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Twenty years ago, I was both a full-time student in public health at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa and a physician in Kalihi.
