A pair of island soccer stars, Daelenn Tokunaga<\/strong> and Kaleihalia Tolentino-Perry<\/strong>, are the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week for their performances in home matches last week.<\/p>\n

Daelenn Tokunaga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

High scoring forward Tokunaga continued to make her mark for a Vulcan team that is chasing a conference title and postseason berth. Tokunaga assisted Christina Kanellou<\/strong> with the winning goal during a 1-0 victory over Concordia University Irvine, and scored UH<\/abbr> Hilo\u2019s opening goal in a 2-0 triumph over Biola University. Tokunaga leads the PacWest in goals with 11 and in total points with 25.<\/p>\n

Senior defender Tolentino-Perry had standout performances against Concordia and Biola. He had an assist in the first five minutes of UH<\/abbr> Hilo\u2019s 2-1 win over Concordia and led the Vulcan defense during a stretch where they only gave up three goals. “Kalei’s presence on the field is always felt,” said coach Paul Regrutto<\/strong>. “He is always a huge factor for us every time he steps onto the field.”<\/p>\n
