Andre Ilagan fell in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships semifinals to No.<\/abbr> 28 August Holmgren, 6-4, 6-3.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa men’s tennis<\/a> junior Andre Ilagan<\/strong>\u2019s historic run in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships came to an end in the semifinals on October 9. The Honolulu native not only became the first Rainbow Warrior in program history to win a match in the tournament\u2019s main draw, he also won seven total matches in the tournament.<\/p>\n

Ilagan fell in the semifinals to University of San Diego\u2019s No<\/abbr>. 28 August Holmgren in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. The loss snapped Ilagan\u2019s nine-match winning streak dating back to September 25. During his string of history-making wins at the All-American, Ilagan took down six ranked players—No<\/abbr>. 18 Juan Carlos Aguilar (TCU<\/abbr>), No<\/abbr>. 26 Marcus McDaniel (Georgia Tech), No<\/abbr>. 59 Josh Goodger (Florida), No<\/abbr>. 65 Cannon Kingsley (Ohio State), No<\/abbr>. 109 Stijn Slump (Middle Tennessee) and No<\/abbr>. 110 Alex Kotzen (Columbia).<\/p>\n

The phenom from Farrington High School is a two-time All-Big West Singles first team selection, All-Big West Doubles first team awardee, two-time UH<\/abbr> scholar athlete and 2019 Big West Freshman of the Year.<\/p>\n

Ilagan and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors will continue their fall season, October 16–17, in the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Pacific University-UH<\/abbr> Hilo Invitational.<\/p>\n
