The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa\u2019s William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a> was ranked No. 18 in preparing graduates for government jobs, as one of the “Best Schools for Public Service” listed in the fall 2021 issue of PreLaw Magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Methodology variables included employment, curricula, and debt and repayment options for law students. The magazine conducts the ranking every two years.<\/p>\n

The article cites the growing interest in public service and features law schools that lead the way in preparing graduates for work in public service jobs—including clerkships, prosecutor and public defender positions, and public interest and government jobs.<\/p>\n

“The William S. Richardson School of Law was created not only to provide legal education but to serve as a legal resource for the community. Clearly, by engaging in government service, our graduates are fulfilling that resource role for our community,” said Nicholas A. Mirkay<\/strong>, associate dean for academic affairs.<\/p>\n

With 16% of graduates reporting employment in government jobs and a final GPA<\/abbr> of 2.96, the UH<\/abbr> law school was ranked in a list of 26 schools with a large number of graduates employed in government jobs.<\/p>\n

“This ranking also exemplifies our graduates’ commitment to serve and enrich the communities from where they originate. It’s one of the rich and unique components of our history in Â鶹´«Ã½,<\/span>” said Mirkay.<\/p>\n

This ranking is an example of UH<\/abbr> Mānoa\u2019s goal of Enhancing Student Success <\/a>(PDF<\/abbr><\/span>), one of four goals identified in the 2015–25 Â鶹´«Ã½<\/a> (PDF<\/abbr><\/span>), updated in December 2020.<\/p>\n
