UH<\/abbr> Cancer Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

An international search has officially begun for the next director of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Cancer Center<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Cancer Center is one of 71 National Cancer Institute-designated centers and the only one in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and the Pacific. The center’s mission is to reduce the burden of cancer through research, education, patient care, clinical trials and community outreach with an emphasis on the unique ethnic, cultural and environmental characteristics of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and the Pacific. The center is committed to work toward the development and utilization of new and unique innovative cancer control approaches for the health of the people of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and the world. <\/p>\n

Jill Hoggard Green, president and CEO<\/abbr> of Queen\u2019s Health Systems, and Lee Buenconsejo-Lum<\/strong>, associate dean for academic affairs at UH<\/abbr> Manoa\u2019s John A. Burns School of Medicine, are co-chairing the search advisory committee. The committee members include a chair, faculty, staff and students from several UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa units, as well as representatives from the Kualiʻi<\/span> Council, alumni and the health industry community.<\/p>\n

The committee will recommend finalists to UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno<\/strong>, who will then recommend a nominee to UH<\/abbr> President David Lassner<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Review of applications will begin in October 2021 and will continue until the position is filled. <\/p>\n
