The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Mānoa Colleges of Arts and Sciences<\/a> presents Cultural Diversity and the Ideal of Progress: An Evening with Yi-Fu Tuan on Wednesday, March 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Art Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

An innovator and winner of the Lauréate Prix International de Géographie Vautrin Lud, Tuan has been called “a scholar with immense learning and an original point of view\u2026who has reinvented our notions of space and place” by Michael Kammen of Cornell University.<\/p>\n

Tuan has authored of over two dozen influential book and has redefined the field of human and cultural geography by exploring the aesthetic and moral dimensions of h\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00aduman culture and the meanings of home, place, wilderness, human goodness, art and environment. His books include Landscapes of Fear, Human Goodness and Coming Home to China<\/em>, Dominance and Affection, Place, Art and Self, Place and Space: The Perspective of Experience<\/em> and Topophila: A Study of Environmental Perception, Attitudes and Values<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Books will be available for purchase at the event from the UH<\/abbr> Bookstore<\/a>.<\/p>\n
