The mission is proceeding toward a targeted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedyspacecenter.com\/launches-and-events\/events-calendar\/2021\/september\/rocket-launch-spacex-inspiration-4\">launch on Wednesday, September 15 from <abbr title=\"National Aeronautics and Space Administration\">NASA<\/abbr>\u2019s Kennedy Space Center<\/a> in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Proctor was one of six crew members <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2013\/08\/14\/groundbreaking-space-exploration-research-at-uh\/\">who emerged on August 13, 2013<\/a> after spending four months at the <abbr>HI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>SEAS<\/abbr> habitat as part of a <abbr>NASA<\/abbr>-funded study to investigate food strategies for long-duration space travel.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am loving feeling the breeze against me,&rdquo; Proctor said that day. &ldquo;Even the warmth of the sun on my face. That\u2019s nice.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><abbr>HI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>SEAS<\/abbr> Principal Investigator and <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Professor of Information and Computer Sciences Kim Binsted said, &ldquo;I&#8217;m so excited to see Sian go from being an analog astronaut at <abbr>HI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>SEAS<\/abbr> to being a real one in space!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/tag\/hi-seas\/\">Learn more about the <abbr>HI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>SEAS<\/abbr> program<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The plan is for Inspiration4 to travel in a low Earth orbit on a multi-day journey. According to the mission website, the crew will conduct experiments while traveling weightless at more than 17,000 miles per hour.
