The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo continued its reign as one of the most ethnically diverse campuses in the U.S. and is among UH<\/abbr>\u2019s four-year campuses featured in U.S. News and World Report<\/em>\u2019s 2022 Best Colleges rankings<\/a>. U.S. News and World Report<\/em> rated 1,466 eligible universities from approximately 2,700 four-year institutions nationwide<\/a> on 17 measures of academic quality. The latest rankings were released on September 12, 6:01 p.m. HST<\/abbr> (September 13, 12:01 a.m. EST<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/h2>\n

UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/a> ranked No<\/abbr>. 78 as a top U.S. public school, No<\/abbr>. 162 overall in the U.S. and No<\/abbr>. 170 as a best value school, which factors in academic quality and cost. In addition, UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa ranked No<\/abbr>. 6 in the nation in ethnic diversity and No<\/abbr>. 153 in social mobility, which measures how well schools graduated students who were federal Pell Grant recipients.<\/p>\n

The Shidler College of Business<\/a> is No<\/abbr>. 14 for international business programs and No<\/abbr>. 106 among the best undergraduate business programs. In a new ranking category for 2022, the Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing<\/a> (formerly School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene) is the nation\u2019s No<\/abbr>. 96 best undergraduate nursing program out of 694 ranked programs. The College of Engineering<\/a> placed No<\/abbr>. 131 as the best undergraduate engineering program in the U.S. and the Information and Computer Sciences Department<\/a> ranked as the No<\/abbr>. 135 best undergraduate computer science program.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/h2>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a> retained its No<\/abbr>. 1 ranking as one of the nation\u2019s most ethnically diverse campuses, tying for the top spot with Stanford University, University of San Francisco and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Students at UH<\/abbr> Hilo in fall 2020 reported being 15.5% Asian, 8.3% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 19.1% white, and 37.3% of two or more races.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo also ranked No<\/abbr>. 30 in social mobility, No<\/abbr>. 147 as a top U.S. public school and No<\/abbr>. 288 overall in the nation. In addition, UH<\/abbr> Hilo\u2019s School of Nursing<\/a> is the No<\/abbr>. 148 best undergraduate nursing program in the U.S. and the College of Business and Economics<\/a> placed No<\/abbr>. 278 among the best undergraduate business programs.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> ranked No<\/abbr>. 8 among best U.S. public schools in the West and No<\/abbr>. 29 among best regional colleges in the West. In addition, UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> is the No<\/abbr>. 3 campus with the highest ethnic diversity among regional colleges in the West.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa and UH<\/abbr> Hilo were included in the national universities category, which featured institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master\u2019s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates. UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> is in the regional colleges in the West category, which includes schools that focus on undergraduate education and grant fewer than 50% of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.<\/p>\n
