About 27&#37; of all <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students registered for the fall 2021 semester responded to the survey, 12,390 students out of 45,930 students. The findings are similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/07\/15\/high-uh-vaccination-rates-vaccine-mandate\/\">student survey<\/a> from late June that found 92&#37; of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students who responded at that time were vaccinated or planned to be.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/system-student-survey-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"students walking\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-146528\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/system-student-survey-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/system-student-survey-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/system-student-survey.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The August survey findings include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>83.4&#37; of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students are fully vaccinated<\/li>\n<li>4.3&#37; are partially vaccinated<\/li>\n<li>2.6&#37; plan to be vaccinated<\/li>\n<li>9.4&#37; are not vaccinated (1,164 total)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Among those who are NOT vaccinated:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50&#37; say they will be on a <abbr>UH<\/abbr> campus in the fall 2021 semester for in-person classes, employment, in-person activities, etc.<\/li>\n<li>47&#37; say they will only be vaccinated when a vaccine is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration<\/li>\n<li>37&#37; say the prefer not to be vaccinated and will take courses online<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first day of fall classes is Monday, August 23. To be on a <abbr>UH<\/abbr> campus for the fall 2021 semester, students, employees and visitors are required to be fully vaccinated for <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr>. Those who are unvaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated (two weeks after the second dose) must submit proof of a negative <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> test result weekly to be on campus. The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> testing program will be announced later this week.<\/p>\n<p>There are some courses&#8212;clinicals, labs, performing arts, field work&#8212;that require vaccination without exception because safe physical distancing cannot be maintained.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who comes to campus must first receive a green &ldquo;You may report to campus&rdquo; status with the current date on the LumiSight <abbr>UH<\/abbr> daily health check app. The app screens for <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> symptoms and exposure.
