The <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Island campus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2019\/02\/01\/uh-hilo-student-affairs-ranking\/\">first received the honor in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs (<abbr>PPWSA<\/abbr>) is a national recognition that celebrates student affairs workplaces that are vibrant, diverse, supportive and committed to staff work-life balance, professional development and inclusive excellence.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Thank you to the <abbr>ACPA<\/abbr>-College Student Educators International and <em>Diverse: Issues In Higher Education<\/em> for recognizing <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo with this honor again this year,&rdquo; said <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo Vice Chancellor for Students Affairs <strong>Farrah-Marie Gomes<\/strong>. &ldquo;Now more than ever, the work of student affairs professionals is critical for providing the holistic support that students need to be successful in college.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><abbr>PPWSA<\/abbr> offers institutional leaders information that can be used to improve practices across their student affairs community, while also serving as a useful tool for employers, career services staff and job-seekers across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am proud of our student affairs professionals for serving students in exceptional ways,&rdquo; Gomes added. &ldquo;These are the same professionals that contribute to the building of a welcoming, safe and inclusive foundation upon which students and staff will continue to thrive in. I have profound gratitude for all of our student affairs professionals who exude compassion and grace for our students while also demonstrating care for one another.
