For a second time, the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> has been selected as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by the American College Personnel Association<\/a> (ACPA<\/abbr>)-College Student Educators International<\/a> and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education<\/em>. UH<\/abbr> Hilo was one of 30 schools across the nation that earned the recognition for 2020. The Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Island campus first received the honor in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs (PPWSA<\/abbr>) is a national recognition that celebrates student affairs workplaces that are vibrant, diverse, supportive and committed to staff work-life balance, professional development and inclusive excellence.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to the ACPA<\/abbr>-College Student Educators International and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education<\/em> for recognizing UH<\/abbr> Hilo with this honor again this year,” said UH<\/abbr> Hilo Vice Chancellor for Students Affairs Farrah-Marie Gomes<\/strong>. “Now more than ever, the work of student affairs professionals is critical for providing the holistic support that students need to be successful in college.”<\/p>\n

PPWSA<\/abbr> offers institutional leaders information that can be used to improve practices across their student affairs community, while also serving as a useful tool for employers, career services staff and job-seekers across the country.<\/p>\n

“I am proud of our student affairs professionals for serving students in exceptional ways,” Gomes added. “These are the same professionals that contribute to the building of a welcoming, safe and inclusive foundation upon which students and staff will continue to thrive in. I have profound gratitude for all of our student affairs professionals who exude compassion and grace for our students while also demonstrating care for one another. There is no other group of professionals that I would choose to do this important work with.”<\/p>\n
