The biannual publication, <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/manoajournal\/\"><em>M\u0101noa: A Pacific Journal of International Writing<\/em><\/a>, has featured writing in English and in translation, particularly from the Asia-Pacific region, and is among a list of 80 <abbr>ALP<\/abbr> recipients collectively awarded a total of more than $1 million. M\u0101noa will utilize the grant funding to support its program and operations.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&#8217;re grateful to Amazon for recognizing the outstanding work being done by the University of Hawaii Press to make M\u0101noa a leader in international literary publishing,&rdquo; said <strong>Frank Stewart<\/strong>, the journal\u2019s editor and an emeritus professor of English at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa. &ldquo;We could not have achieved excellence without the support of the Press and Dr. <strong>Laura Lyons<\/strong>, the interim associate vice chancellor for academic affairs.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Related <em><abbr>UH<\/abbr> News<\/em> story: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/04\/21\/uh-press-journal-earns-recognition\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Press journal earns national recognition, $15<abbr title=\"thousand\">K<\/abbr> grant<\/a>, April 21, 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr>ALP<\/abbr> helps writers tell their stories and find their readers, empowering writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment and thrive. Since 2009, Amazon has provided more than $14 million in grant funding to more than 150 literary organizations, assisting thousands of writers.
