Regent Michelle Tagorda<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Regent Michelle Tagorda<\/strong> was honored by the Board of Regents<\/a> for her seven years of service to the university with a proclamation of appreciation. Tagorda\u2019s term ends June 30, 2021.<\/p>\n

Tagorda has been the consummate student advocate for much of her student and professional life, serving as a member of the Campus Center Board as a student, and subsequently dedicating herself to inspiring students to pursue rewarding careers in public health and beyond in her role as an academic advisor. She announced that she will be pursuing a doctoral degree in the fall and looks forward to continuing her education with the university.<\/p>\n

“Tagorda has been thoughtful, measured and joyful,” said UH<\/abbr> President David Lassner<\/strong>. “She has listened to all sides and has brought people together in her quiet Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Island way. It\u2019s really been a treat to serve with her and do what we can for all of the people of Â鶹´«Ã½.<\/span>”<\/p>\n

In 2014, Gov. Neil Abercrombie appointed Tagorda as the student member of the UH<\/abbr> Board of Regents, and in 2016 she was appointed by Gov. David Ige to the Board of Regents, as one of several members representing Oʻahu.<\/span><\/p>\n

During her tenure on the board, Tagorda served on various committees including academic and student affairs, for which she served as both chair and vice chair; budget and finance; intercollegiate athletics, where she served as vice chair; personnel affairs and board governance, for which she served as chair; planning and facilities, where she served as both chair and vice chair; and research and innovation.<\/p>\n

“I want to extend my thanks to all of my peers and all of my colleagues on the Board of Regents,” said Tagorda. “I do feel like I have grown through this experience exponentially.”<\/p>\n

A number of Regents extended their appreciation to Tagorda for her dedication to the university, and students in particular, and recognized her for her calm, thoughtful and contemplative demeanor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
