Charles Booth<\/strong>, Mānoa professor of law, was reappointed as vice chairman of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law’s Academic Advisory Board through June 30, 2012. AIIFL is based at the University of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

Jerry Calton<\/strong>, Hilo professor of management, made two presentations at the annual meeting of the International Association for Business and Society in Bath, UK. He presented Building Partnerships to Create Value at the Base of the Pyramid, a paper he co-authored on innovative approaches to addressing global poverty, and Hot Topic: Teaching Sustainability and Global Warming in a Management Class, a workshop he co-facilitated. <\/p>\n

Alohalani Housman<\/strong>, Hilo associate professor of Hawaiian studies, co-presented research regarding the ’Olelo Ola Oral Language Proficiency Project at the World Indigenous People’s Conference on Education in Cuzco, Peru. <\/p>\n

Eugene Konorev<\/strong>, Hilo assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences, presented research on Antiangiogenic Effect of Doxorubicin on Human Cardiac Microvascular Endothelial Cells Does Not Result From the Reduced Vascular Endothelial Factor Production at the American Heart Association Basic Cardiovascular Sciences 2011 Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA. <\/p>\n

Ethel Villalobos<\/strong>, M\u0101noa junior researcher with Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences, was awarded the Western Apicultural Society’s Thurber Award for Inventiveness. She was selected for her devotion to providing immediate help, through research, education and outreach, to Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> beekeepers in dealing with new bee pests in the state.
