(photo courtesy of the <abbr>ICLDC<\/abbr> committee)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"clear-photo\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/nflrc.hawaii.edu\/icldc\/2013\/index.html\">3rd International Conference on Language Documentation and Conservation<\/a> (<abbr>ICLDC<\/abbr>), &ldquo;Sharing Worlds of Knowledge,&rdquo; will be held February 28&#8211;March 3, 2013, at the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Imin International Conference Center at the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M&#257;noa<\/a>. By popular demand, the 3rd <abbr>ICLDC<\/abbr> will be a full day longer than the previous two conferences.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s conference theme, &ldquo;Sharing Worlds of Knowledge,&rdquo; highlights the fact that language encodes knowledge in many subfields of science, art and the humanities. Researchers need to know how to tap into these topics to fully document the unique worldview held by each language community.<\/p>\n<p>The program aims to build on the strong momentum created by the 1st and 2nd <abbr>ICLDC<\/abbr>s to discuss research and revitalization approaches yielding rich records that can benefit both the field of language documentation and speech communities.<\/p>\n<h2>Master classes<\/h2>\n<p>The conference program will feature an integrated series of <a href=\"http:\/\/nflrc.hawaii.edu\/icldc\/2013\/highlights.html\">Master Class workshops<\/a> taught by experts in ethnobotany, ethnogeography, folk taxonomy, oral history, ethnomusicology and kinship systems.
