Thousands of <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> employees, including student employees, have been vaccinated against the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s your turn. Beginning April 19, COVID-19 vaccines will be available to everyone on <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> 16 years or older. <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiicovid19.com\/vaccination-registration\/\">Get more information on registration to find a vaccine site near you<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Demand for vaccination will be high so please be patient. Here are some helpful tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be persistent. Sites update their appointment availability regularly. If a site does NOT have appointments, check back daily\n<\/li>\n<li>Search for sites that make the most sense for you and your schedule. You may want to avoid the final exam period, as some don\u2019t feel well for 1\u20132 days after vaccination, especially after a 2nd dose.\n<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of the protocols for each of the three approved vaccines<br \/>\n&#8211; Pfizer: two doses with a minimum 21-day interval between shots<br \/>\n&#8211; Moderna: two doses with a minimum 28-day interval between shots<br \/>\n&#8211; Johnson &#38; Johnson: one dose (<em><strong>Editor&#8217;s note<\/strong><\/em>: The Johnson &#38; Johnson coronavirus vaccine distribution was paused on April 13 by the federal government to check possible health side effects)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We encourage everyone to be vaccinated to protect yourself, your family and our entire community. If you have concerns, here are some useful resources to learn more about the COVID-19 vaccines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiicovid19.com\/vaccine-faqs\/\">Department of Health Vaccine <abbr>FAQ<\/abbr>s<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/index.html\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevent Vaccine <abbr>FAQ<\/abbr>s<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/q-a-detail\/coronavirus-disease-(covid-19)-vaccines\">World Health Organization Vaccine <abbr>FAQ<\/abbr>s<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember that even with the vaccine, COVID-19 cases are surging in parts of the country (and increasing here in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>).
