Burns School of Medicine<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#nursing\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#law\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#business\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">Shidler College of Business<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#education\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">College of Education<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#engineering\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">College of Engineering<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#health\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#social\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">College of Social Sciences<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#natural\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">College of Natural Sciences<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;|&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#arts\" class=\"local-scroll-link\">College of Arts, Languages &#38; Letters<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Rankings across specific disciplines can play a major role in a student\u2019s decision to attend a particular university. The <em><abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em>\u2019s rankings reflect <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s excellence across many of our graduate programs, further evidence of our status as one of the world\u2019s great research universities, providing a wide range of opportunities for our students,&rdquo; <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost <strong>Michael Bruno<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"medical\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/h2>\n<p>The state\u2019s premier medical school, <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (<abbr title=\"John A. Burns School of Medicine\">JABSOM<\/abbr>) ranked <abbr title=\"Number\">No<\/abbr>. 24 in primary care and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 64 in research out of 123 of the best medical schools in the U.S. This is the second time in five years that <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> made the top 25 (No. 19 in the U.S. in primary care in 2016). <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> also placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 35 for diversity and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 31 for percentage of 2012&#8211;14 graduates practicing in primary care specialties. <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/jabsom-recognized-in-u-s-news-world-report-best-medical-school-listings\/\">Read more on <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr>&#8216;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"nursing\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.hawaii.edu\/\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/a>&#8216;s doctor of nursing practice (<abbr title=\"Doctor of Nursing Practice\">DNP<\/abbr>) program was ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 68 among 163 schools considered in the <em><abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em>&#8216;s Best Nursing Schools. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Nursing is the only <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>DNP<\/abbr> program ranked by <em><abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em> since 2018.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Nursing also placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 69 out of 220 schools for best master\u2019s nursing programs, consistently ranking in the top 30&#37; nationally since 2018.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"law\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a>, ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 98 among 193 American Bar Association-accredited law schools. The school\u2019s environmental law program ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 24 out of 181 programs and the evening part-time law program ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 28 out of 70. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/article\/richardson-again-among-top-100-law-schools-big-gains-2022-us-news-world-report-rankings\">Read more on the law school&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"business\">Shidler College of Business<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Shidler College of Business<\/a>\u2019s part-time master of business administration program (global <abbr title=\"master of business administration\">MBA<\/abbr>, 36-month plan) ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 152 among 273 part-time <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> programs that qualified for the ranking. Shidler\u2019s part-time <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> program is the only Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International accredited <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> program in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and one of the few <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> programs in the U.S. with a true Asia-Pacific focus.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"education\">College of Education<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/coe.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Education<\/a> (<abbr title=\"College of Education\">COE<\/abbr>) ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 80 of 277 schools considered, the 16th straight year the college has been listed as one of the nation\u2019s top 100 education programs. The college also remains at the top for funded research, securing $19 million in contracts and grants in 2020. Nationally accredited since 2000, the <abbr>COE<\/abbr> continues to be recognized for its award-winning programs and people.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, faculty, staff, students and alumni won national awards for art education, academic advising and world language teaching; secured funding for computer science and math education as well as the history of education in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>; and were selected for teacher fellowships and promoted to rector of a university.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"engineering\">College of Engineering<\/h2>\n<p>Four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Engineering<\/a> graduate programs were ranked among the best in the nation, according to <em><abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cee.hawaii.edu\/\">Civil engineering<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 84; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ee.hawaii.edu\/\">computer engineering<\/a>, a joint program in the College of Engineering and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ics.hawaii.edu\/\">Department of Information and Computer Sciences<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 105; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ee.hawaii.edu\/\">electrical engineering<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 107; and <a href=\"https:\/\/me.hawaii.edu\/\">mechanical engineering<\/a> is <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 139. The College of Engineering ranked in the <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 154&#8211;202 tier among top engineering schools in the U.S. that grant doctoral degrees. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.hawaii.edu\/usnews21\/\">Read more on the College of Engineering&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"health\">Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/\">Office of Public Health Studies<\/a> (<abbr title=\"Office of Public Health Studies\">OPHS<\/abbr>) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/thompson\/\">Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 123 out of 188 <abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> doctoral programs ranked. The two programs are a <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/doctoral\/phd-in-public-health\"><abbr title=\"Doctor of Philosophy\">PhD<\/abbr> in public health<\/a>, which specializes in community-based and translational research, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/doctoral\/phd-in-epidemiology\"><abbr>PhD<\/abbr> in epidemiology<\/a>, which has been in high demand in COVID-19. <abbr>OPHS<\/abbr> is also home to growing <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/undergraduate\/sample\">undergraduate<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/graduate\/master-of-public-health\">masters<\/a> programs, and is developing an online master of public health program to meet workforce demands.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"social\">College of Social Sciences<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/puba.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">Public Administration Program<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsciences.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Social Sciences<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 95 out of 285 graduate programs considered. The master\u2019s of public administration program is the state of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s only Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration accredited program, offering an 18-month accelerated, two-year full-time and three-year part-time plan.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, for doctoral programs in the <abbr>U.S.<\/abbr>,the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economics.hawaii.edu\/\">Department of Economics<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 95 in the nation, the <a href=\"https:\/\/sociology.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">Department of Sociology<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 97 and the <a href=\"https:\/\/politicalscience.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">Department of Political Science<\/a> is <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 103.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"natural\">College of Natural Sciences<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/\">Library and Information Science Program<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/natsci.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Natural Sciences<\/a>\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ics.hawaii.edu\/\">Information and Computer Sciences Department<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 31 in the nation out of 55 graduate programs considered by <em><abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em>. The Library and Information Science Program leads the nation in producing Native Hawaiian librarians.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"arts\">College of Arts, Languages &#38; Letters<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/english.hawaii.edu\/\">Department of English<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/call\/\">College of Arts, Languages &#38; Letters<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 89 out of 157 doctoral programs in the nation.
