The Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science<\/a> is now accepting applications for its summer 2013 program, which runs May 28–August 9. The application deadline is Thursday, February 28.<\/p>\n

Undergraduate students of Native Hawaiian ancestry, other kamaʻaina<\/span>, underrepresented minorities and first-generation college students are encouraged to apply for opportunities in paid summer environmental internships statewide.<\/p>\n

PIPES<\/abbr> is a university level project-based internship program housed within the Pacific Aquaculture and Coastal Resources Center at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a>. Participants will work side-by-side with UH<\/abbr> Hilo and other agency researchers, resource managers and environmental educators on exciting and mentored experiential projects.<\/p>\n

PIPES<\/abbr> is committed to increasing the recruitment and retention of local students, especially those of Native Hawaiian ancestry, into fields of study, and ultimately careers, related to the natural resources of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and the Pacific region.<\/p>\n
