Despite mostly online classes, sometimes far away from campus, University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo student-athletes<\/a> posted above-average grade point averages for the 2020 fall semester.<\/p>\n

Vulcans in 12 sports posted an overall fall GPA<\/abbr> of 3.195, pushing their cumulative GPA<\/abbr> to 3.193. The department\u2019s previous record high for cumulative GPA<\/abbr> was 3.191, set through the spring semester of 2020.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s golf team posted the highest team GPA<\/abbr> for the fall at 3.559, and has the highest cumulative GPA<\/abbr> for a UH<\/abbr> Hilo team at 3.580.<\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo cross country team had the highest fall total for a women\u2019s sport at 3.488.<\/p>\n

Nearly all Vulcan teams had a fall GPA<\/abbr> of 3.0 or better.<\/p>\n

“Despite the challenges that COVID brings to our student-athletes, they have stepped up and delivered in the classroom,” said UH<\/abbr> Hilo Athletic Director Patrick Guillen<\/strong>. “Credit should be given as well to our coaches for recruiting good athletes who are also good students, and for helping to mentor them through the challenges of 2020.”<\/p>\n
