The four-day conference included more than 2,000 virtual poster and oral presentations given by undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kailee Yoshimura<\/strong> won her award in the category of Physiology and Pharmacology of an Undergraduate for her research project, &ldquo;Development of Quercetin Containing Polymeric Nanoparticles for Oral Delivery.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Fellow student <strong>Michelle Biete<\/strong> received her award in the category of Computational and Systems Biology of an Undergraduate Junior for her presentation on her presentation, &ldquo;A Pragmatic Approach to Standardizing Ultrastructure Morphology in Tissue and Cell Culture.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abrcms.org\/images\/2020_ABRCMS_Virtual\/Presentation_Awards_for_Website.pdf\">View the full list of 2020 award recipients<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of seven <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/sharp\/\">Students of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Advanced Research Program<\/a> (<abbr>SHARP<\/abbr>) students, including Yoshimura and Biete, were selected to present their research in biomedical or biobehavioral science as first authors. The other student presenters were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Taylor A.U. Barongan<\/strong>, &ldquo;Synthetic Studies of Antitubercular Atrovimycin&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kit Neikirk<\/strong>, &ldquo;Increased Efficacy of Difluoromethylornithine and Metformin Containing Anionic Permeation Enhancers for the Treatment of Neuroblastoma&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evangeline Lemieux<\/strong>, &ldquo;COVID-19 and Student Life in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>: Challenges, Adjustments, and Adaptations&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jace Taka<\/strong>, &ldquo;Development of Resveratrol Containing Polymeric Nanoparticles for Oral Delivery&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jane M.U.
