The program will host <a href=\"https:\/\/coehawaii.zoom.us\/j\/8089563359\">two virtual sessions via Zoom<\/a> on November 10 at 3:30 p.m. <abbr title=\"Hawaii Standard Time\">HST<\/abbr> and November 13 at 4 p.m. <abbr>HST<\/abbr> to provide additional information on certificates and degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Ethnomathematics is real-world experiential problem-solving that empowers students to be locally-minded, global citizens with a sense of purpose and a sense of place. The program is intended to inform, inspire and rejuvenate participants to operationalize the knowledge and experience gained to design curriculum and implement action plans that impact equity and excellence in student learning and achievement.<\/p>\n<p>The ethnomathematics program offers an 11-month graduate certificate and may extend the certificate to a <abbr title=\"master's degree in education\">MEd<\/abbr> curriculum studies, mathematics education master\u2019s degree with the completion of additional coursework and requirements, over the course of 17 months. Participants can join the sessions a few minutes before the scheduled start times at <a href=\"https:\/\/coehawaii.zoom.us\/j\/8089563359\">https:\/\/coehawaii.zoom.us\/j\/8089563359<\/a>. They will be let into the session by a meeting host.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Session times<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>November 10, 3:30&#8211;4:30 p.m. (<abbr>HST<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>November 13, 4&#8211;5 p.m. (<abbr>HST<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Application information and deadlines<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants for the ethnomathematics program will need the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited institution (any field)<\/li>\n<li>3.0 <abbr title=\"Grade Point Average\">GPA<\/abbr> or higher (please inquire if below)<\/li>\n<li>Teaching experience in P-20 (early childhood education through university) or equivalent experience<\/li>\n<li>Letters of recommendation<\/li>\n<li>Statement of purpose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The early admission deadline is December 1, 2020.
