A virtual fundraising campaign, called “Shidler Strong,” has been launched to generate support for student programs and initiatives that were impacted by the pandemic. The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s Shidler College of Business<\/a> partnered with alumni and the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> business community on the initiative.<\/p>\n

According to “Shidler Strong” co-chair Terri Fujii<\/strong> (BBA<\/abbr> \u201984 and MAcc<\/abbr> \u201985), the crisis has greatly affected students who rely on internships, networking opportunities and career services to prepare them for their futures.<\/p>\n

“We need people who understand business—all aspects of business from marketing to accounting,” Fujii said. “So more than ever before, we need to make sure that we are here and we can provide students with the education that they need.”<\/p>\n

The college had received $261,000 of its $350,000 campaign goal as of October 20. The campaign will continue until the end of the year.<\/p>\n

“Student access to higher education and the valuable resources that the college provides remains a top priority,” said Shidler College Dean Vance Roley<\/strong>. “Funds raised through the ‘Shidler Strong’ campaign help the college continue scholarship and program support and fulfill ongoing commitments impacted by this community crisis. Our faculty and staff can continue their valuable work and focus on preparing our students to become tomorrow\u2019s global business leaders.”<\/p>\n

Proceeds raised will fund additional student, faculty, alumni and community programs and activities not covered by state-appropriated funds and Jay H. Shidler\u2019s $228 million gift to the college in 2017.<\/p>\n
