The Keiki Hauʻoli<\/span> Children’s Center<\/a> at Honolulu Community College<\/a> was recently reaccredited for another five years by the National Association for the Education of Young Children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The center earned superior ratings in the most recent accreditation report. It was assessed on 10 standard areas including relationships, curriculum, teaching, assessment of child progress, health, teachers, families, community relationships, physical environment, and leadership and management.<\/p>\n

“As educators of future teachers, it is imperative that we model good practices with our students so they become accustomed to the level of quality we should always be striving for,” said Honolulu CC<\/abbr> Professor Lisa Yogi<\/strong>, who serves as the coordinator for the children’s center.<\/p>\n

Training early childhood educators<\/h2>\n

The center is the primary training site for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education<\/a> certificate and degree programs at Honolulu CC. It provides quality care and learning opportunities for children of Honolulu CC students, employees and the community.<\/p>\n

Staffed by certified teachers, teacher trainees, and student assistants, Keiki Hauʻoli<\/span> Children’s Center is a high quality, high performing facility. The center was established in 1981 and has been successfully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 2004.<\/p>\n
