The survey results will be used by state officials to identify important issues and make decisions on targeting resources to communities in need.<\/p>\n<p>The survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, should be completed by one participant per household, 18 years or older. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/go.hawaii.edu\/3P6\">Complete the survey: <em>Assessment of the Emerging Needs \/ Threats to Health &#38; Social Welfare as a Result of <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> Among Individuals in <abbr title=\"Hawaii\">HI<\/abbr><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"university of hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa interdisciplinary team is part of the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Emergency Management Agency (<abbr>HIEMA<\/abbr>) State Essential Functions 8: Community Care Outreach (<abbr>CCO<\/abbr>) unit and includes <strong>Kristine Qureshi<\/strong> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/nursing.hawaii.edu\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/a>; <strong>Lee Buenconsejo-Lum<\/strong> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a>; and <strong>Robin Arndt<\/strong>, <strong>Tetine Sentell<\/strong> and <strong>Rachel Burrage <\/strong>from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/sswork\/\">Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/\">Office of Public Health Studies<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The ongoing <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> pandemic in the State of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> continues to adversely affect all segments of the population,&rdquo; said Qureshi, unit lead. &ldquo;Social, economic and health systems continue to be strained, and as a result the health and social welfare of individuals are at risk. This is especially true for the most vulnerable groups in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>The survey builds on a recent <abbr>CCO<\/abbr> unit survey of human and health service agencies which identified organizational needs and priorities related to serving <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s population during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We encourage our <abbr>UH<\/abbr> community to participate in the survey and forward it to others to help in our response to this dangerous virus,&rdquo; said Qureshi.   <\/p>\n<p>Community leaders assisting the <abbr>UH<\/abbr>\/<abbr>HIEMA<\/abbr> team with survey development, item testing and distribution, include: Sheri Daniels, Josie Howard and Mele Look (Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islands communities); May Rose Dela Cruz (Filipino community); Emma Growchowsky (homeless community); Isabella Silk, Barbara Tom, Kenson Alik and Neil Palafox (Pacific Islands community); and Allison Mikuni (rural and neighbor island communities). <\/p>\n<p>The survey is being administered in close collaboration with the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Department of Health and <abbr>HIEMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>Complete the survey at: <a href=\"http:\/\/go.hawaii.edu\/3P6\">http:\/\/go.hawaii.edu\/3P6<\/a>.
