Their courageous leadership continues to be demonstrated through their response to the <abbr title=\"coronavirus\">COVID-19<\/abbr> pandemic and the ongoing health and economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;One thing that has become incredibly clear to all of us in the last six months is the importance and impact of thoughtful, credible and intentional leadership,&rdquo; said Bill Coy, director of Omidyar Fellows. &ldquo;We see leadership as an activity, not a role, and we have appreciated all of those who have stepped forward to diagnose the real and deeper challenges, engage others and intervene skillfully. Cohort <abbr title=\"roman numeral eight\">VIII<\/abbr> joins us at a juncture of critical demands and remarkable opportunity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The nine <abbr>UH<\/abbr> alumni who were selected as the eighth cohort of Omidyar Fellows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tony Au<\/strong> (<abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Shidler College of Business<\/a>), executive vice president\u2013residential real estate division, First Hawaiian Bank<\/li>\n<li><strong>Danielle Bass<\/strong> (<abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/durp\/\">Department of Urban and Regional Planning<\/a>), sustainability coordinator, State of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii,\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½,<\/span> Office of Planning<\/li>\n<li><strong>Daniel Chun<\/strong> (<abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s Shidler College of Business), director of sales, community and public relations\u2013<span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, Alaska Airlines\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jocelyn Howard<\/strong> (<abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/sswork\/\">Myron B.
