The Pathways to Credentials initiative will provide technical assistance for each college to address workforce needs in the community, and facilitate peer learning through the cohort.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are certainly excited to be part of this initiative and to learn from the cohort of colleges. The program offers a two-year associate in science degree and related certificates and will prepare students for a wide range of careers such as manufacturing and electromechanical systems technicians in industrial automation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related <em><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> News<\/em> story:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2017\/11\/16\/leeward-cc-program-prepares-students-for-rail-transit-jobs\/\">Leeward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> program prepares students for rail transit jobs<\/a>, November 16, 2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A team of eight faculty and staff will work with a coach and subject matter expert to advance their efforts in stackable credential design, employer engagement, industry certification alignment and non-credit\/credit integration.<\/p>\n<p>Umehira said, &ldquo;The greatest value of participating in this initiative is that we can apply the knowledge and practices learned to not only our <abbr>IIT<\/abbr> program but also to our other <abbr>CTE<\/abbr> and workforce development programs.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This initiative, which runs through July 2021, will ultimately help students gain entry into the workforce by providing the college with resources to align instruction and certification with current industry standards.
