The bill passed two hearings unanimously with the next scheduled for August 5. If it passes the next hearing and is approved by Mayor Harry Kim, it will become law.<\/p>\n<p>Forest ecosystems expert <strong>Rebecca Ostertag<\/strong>, a professor of biology and associate program chair of the <a href=\"http:\/\/tcbes.uhh.hawaii.edu\/\">Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science (<abbr>TCBES<\/abbr>) graduate program<\/a> at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo, and her colleague Susan Cordell of the <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> Department of Agriculture\u2019s Forest Service, are working directly with environmental lawyer Leslie Cole-Brooks, who wrote the bill.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo student <strong>Sebastian Wells<\/strong>, in the professional internship track of the <abbr>TCBES<\/abbr> graduate program, is working as an intern this summer with the County of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Real Property Tax Division.
