Families operate like societies, just in a smaller unit. When something happens that impacts one family member, everyone is affected and the whole system is shaken. As a consequence, the family will either adapt to the change and carry on with their rules and responsibilities, or fall into crisis.<\/p>\n

Just like every society that has ever existed, families need support—financial, social and emotional—to help them get through problems.<\/p>\n

Sothy Eng<\/strong> from the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR<\/abbr>) Department of Human Development and Family Sciences<\/a> (HDFS<\/abbr>) asked CTAHR<\/abbr> faculty members for their advice and insight to help provide support for Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> individuals and families undergoing stressful circumstances due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Together, Eng and his colleagues created a one-page resource, “Family Coping in Challenging Times<\/a>,” which includes advice on family economics, intergenerational caregiving tips and social and emotional support methods. HDFS<\/abbr> is eager to help people learn and benefit from their provided coping strategies.<\/p>\n
