He joined <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> in 2017, following positions at <abbr title=\"National Aeronautics and Space Administration\">NASA<\/abbr>&#8216;s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley and the University of Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Huber is a world leader in the study of stars and exoplanets, combining data from <abbr>NASA<\/abbr> space missions with observations using ground-based telescopes in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. He has been an author on more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and was included in the 2019 Highly Cited Researchers list by <em>Web of Science<\/em>, which recognizes the world&#8217;s most influential researchers with multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1 percent by citations.<\/p>\n<p>Since arriving at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, Huber has been the principal investigator on 12 extramural grants totaling more than $1.6 million of research funding, and has advised two postdoctoral researchers as well as 10 graduate students. In 2019, Huber was the recipient of the prestigious Sloan Research Fellowship.<\/p>\n<h2>Qing Li<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118483\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118483\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-li.jpg\" alt=\"Qing Li\" width=\"250\" height=\"350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-118483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-li.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-li-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-li-93x130.jpg 93w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118483\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Qing Li<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Qing Li is a professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/mbbe\/\">Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources<\/a> at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa. Li\u2019s research addresses fundamental issues in agricultural chemistry and has greatly advanced understanding of the field.<\/p>\n<p>He has maintained an active research program that has been supported with $19 million in extramural grants in the past 24 years. His work has resulted in about 400 peer-reviewed publications and 20 patent applications and technology disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>As of February 2020, Li is ranked as the 4th most prolific author in the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> system in SciFinder. His scholarship has been recognized by numerous awards such as the American Chemical Society <abbr>AGRO<\/abbr> Award for Innovation in Chemistry of Agriculture and <abbr>AGRO<\/abbr> International Award for Research in Agrochemicals. He has served as associate editor for the <em>Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry<\/em> since 2015. He has mentored many students, fellows, junior researchers and visiting scientists who serve in leadership positions around the world.<\/p>\n<h2>Mari Yoshihara<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118484\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118484\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-yoshihara.jpg\" alt=\"Mari Yoshihara\" width=\"250\" height=\"350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-118484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-yoshihara.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-yoshihara-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-excellence-in-research-yoshihara-93x130.jpg 93w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118484\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mari Yoshihara<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mari Yoshihara is professor and chair in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/amst\/\">Department of American Studies<\/a> in <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/catalog\/schools-colleges\/arts-sciences\/arts-humanities\/\">College of Arts and Humanities<\/a>. She is a scholar and writer specializing in <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> cultural history, <abbr>U.S.<\/abbr>-Asia relations, Asian American studies, women\u2019s\/gender\/sexuality studies, literary and cultural studies.<\/p>\n<p>Much of her scholarship examines the politics of cultural encounters between the United States and East Asia, especially how the relations of race, gender, sexuality and class shape the dynamics of those encounters and how they are expressed through cultural practices and representations.
