The effort is part of a statewide initiative to bring Native Hawaiian scholarship opportunities to underserved communities in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In that spirit, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> has partnered with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oha.org\/\">Office of Hawaiian Affairs<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/gearup.hawaii.edu\/\">GEAR UP <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a> to present the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/aha\">2012-2013 Native Hawaiian Scholarship <span aria-label=\"Aha\">&#699;Aha<\/span><\/a>, a series of free presentations for high school students, parents, teachers, current college students, adult students, counselors or anyone interested in learning about the resources and financial aid available to Native Hawaiian students.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a brief workshop on filling out financial aid applications and strategies on earning scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It opened my eyes to the huge support system that is available for Native Hawaiians by Native Hawaiians,&rdquo; said <strong>Ilima Ho Lastimosa<\/strong>, a Hawaiian studies student at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa who has attended previous scholarship workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Other community partners supporting the workshops include the Native Hawaiian Education Association, Kamehameha Schools and the Pacific Financial Aid Association.<\/p>\n<h2>Schedule for 2012&#8211;2013 workshops<\/h2>\n<p>The first of 18 presentations is scheduled for November 27, 2012 in Waimea, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>.
