The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa hosts the annual Physics and Astronomy<\/a> Open House on Saturday, November 17, 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m. High school students, teachers and the public are invited to attend the open house.<\/p>\n

Five sites including Watanabe Hall, Krauss Annex and the Physical Science Building will feature physics and astronomy research and applications presented by faculty and students.<\/p>\n

There will be physics demonstrations, hands-on activities and presentations on nanophysics, optical illusions, free electron laser, cosmic rays and astrobiology. Physics faculty and students will describe new and fascinating aspects of their research, such as the recent results from the Large Hadron Collider, which show evidence for the Higgs boson.<\/p>\n

A welcome and overview will take place in the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Institute of Geophysics<\/a> auditorium at 8:30 a.m., with sites open 9–11 a.m. for group visits, and 11 a.m.–12 p.m. for informal visits.<\/p>\n
