{"id":117537,"date":"2020-05-05T14:56:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-06T00:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=117537"},"modified":"2020-05-05T16:00:04","modified_gmt":"2020-05-06T02:00:04","slug":"share-your-covid19-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2020\/05\/05\/share-your-covid19-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Share Your COVID-19 experience with the Center for Oral History"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-oral-history-covid19-project.jpg\" alt=\"empty road in Waikiki\" width=\"676\" height=\"381\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-117552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-oral-history-covid19-project.jpg 676w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-oral-history-covid19-project-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/manoa-oral-history-covid19-project-130x73.jpg 130w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Be a part of history by documenting your COVID-19 experience with the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ethnicstudies.manoa.hawaii.edu\/center-for-oral-history\/\">Center for Oral History<\/a> (<abbr>COH<\/abbr>) in the College of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Life in the Time of COVID-19&rdquo; is designed for the community to reflect on their experiences, acknowledge major events, honor courageous acts and help to understand social and economic trends.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone going through the COVID-19 experience in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> is invited to participate in one of two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/hawaii.edu\/hawaii-life-in-covid19\/request-an-interview\">Request to be interviewed<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/hawaii.edu\/hawaii-life-in-covid19\/share-your-story\">Document your own oral history<\/a> by self-recording an audio or video, sharing photos from a journal\/diary entries or daily life, or submitting poetry, mele (song\/chant) or other art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;We are providing an opportunity for our community members to pause and reflect upon their experience and envision a better future for our islands,&rdquo; said <strong>Davianna <span aria-label=\"P\u014dmaikai\">P\u014dmaika&#699;i<\/span> McGregor<\/strong>, <abbr>COH<\/abbr> director and ethnic studies professor in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsciences.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Social Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The center will compile the responses into an archive for researchers and policymakers to reference.
