Leonard R. Gouveia, Jr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Research Corporation of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a> (RCUH<\/abbr>) Board of Directors has appointed Leonard R. Gouveia, Jr.<\/strong> as the new executive director, effective July 1. Gouveia is currently the director of the Office of Research Services for UH<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

“We believe Lenny\u2019s familiarity with the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, RCUH<\/abbr>, state government and the federal government will allow him to hit the ground running,” said RCUH<\/abbr> Board Chair Donna Ikeda<\/strong>. “He understands the critical role RCUH<\/abbr> plays in supporting the research enterprise. We look forward to working with him as he leads RCUH<\/abbr> to greater success in the future.”<\/p>\n

Gouveia has been affiliated with UH<\/abbr> for more than 15 years, at first as a contracts specialist in the Office of Research Services. He then took an RCUH<\/abbr> position as a technical partnership and development specialist at the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Space Flight Laboratory in UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, where he gained experience managing a complex project of more than $40 million with unique administrative, contractual and legal issues. Gouveia has also worked with the vice president for research to establish the university\u2019s first Office of Export Controls in addition to assuming the role of facility security officer, a position held previously by UH<\/abbr> President David Lassner<\/strong>. He subsequently served as the interim assistant vice president\/director of research compliance before becoming the director of the Office of Research Services.<\/p>\n

Gouveia follows Sylvia Yuen<\/strong> who served as RCUH<\/abbr> executive director for five years and will be retiring at the end of June 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
