{"id":115501,"date":"2020-04-07T15:32:21","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T01:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=115501"},"modified":"2020-04-07T15:32:21","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T01:32:21","slug":"manoa-commencement-video-messages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2020\/04\/07\/manoa-commencement-video-messages\/","title":{"rendered":"<abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa celebrates graduates with video messages"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/commencement-2020-gnrc.jpg\" alt=\"commencement cap\" width=\"637\" height=\"381\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-114053\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/commencement-2020-gnrc.jpg 637w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/commencement-2020-gnrc-300x179.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/commencement-2020-gnrc-130x78.jpg 130w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While traditional commencement ceremonies are postponed for spring 2020, the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa is encouraging spring and summer graduating students to send in recorded messages for the traditional Mahalo Messages video. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/uhFILMproductions\"><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Productions<\/a> will compile the messages and produce a final version to be shared in May via social media and the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/commencement\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa commencement website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students interested in recording a message should follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/f3DHggfCcJ7r7wQM7\">Sign up via Google form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The message should be no longer than 15 seconds. Recording time may be longer, but the actual spoken message should be a maximum of 15 seconds.<\/li>\n<li>Record the message using a mobile phone in landscape mode (i.e. holding the phone sideways, horizontal or widescreen when taking the video for quality consistency).<\/li>\n<li>Record the message in an area where the light is on your face. The sun or a glare from lights behind you will create shadows and a dark recording.<\/li>\n<li>If any part of the message is in another language, please include the translation on the Google form and\/or in the email when submitting the video.<\/li>\n<li>Messages need to be submitted to <a href=\"mailto:uhpgm@hawaii.edu\">uhpgm@hawaii.edu<\/a> by Friday, April 17.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa is committed to finding a way to honor and celebrate the spring and summer 2020 graduating students\u2019 achievements and will make an announcement once a decision has been made regarding the ceremonies.
