The ensemble released videos of their performance of the Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds paired with animations from the project on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLzggQyD7SnE3Exkurv38bcVEst2O2LnzN\">YouTube<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/University-of-Hawaii-Bands-95652069457\/\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We were so looking forward to sharing our Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds, the wonderful people in our <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Wind Ensemble and a little aloha spirit with the wider musical world,&rdquo; said <strong>Jeffrey Boeckman<\/strong>, associate professor and director of bands.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.symphonyofhawaiianbirds.com\/\">Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds<\/a> is a multidisciplinary effort to educate elementary and secondary students about <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s endangered native bird species and the importance of conservation efforts. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> composers, conservation researchers, educators and animators worked together to create a program that was originally performed by the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Symphony Orchestra for <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> elementary, intermediate and high school students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2018\/11\/05\/symphony-of-the-hawaiian-birds-performance\/\">Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds merges science, education, music and art<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The symphony movements were arranged for the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Wind Ensemble who brought the project to <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> in February. In addition to performing the music, the educational component was specifically designed for <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> schools. The ensemble performed two keiki concerts for students and a standing-room-only &#699;ohana concert for the <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> community that benefited the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KauaiForestBirds\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> Forest Bird Recovery Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I\u2019ve been so impressed with our students, who invested a great deal of themselves in this tour over many months&#8212;their time, energy, musicianship and enthusiasm&#8212;and are making music on such a high level,&rdquo; said Boeckman.<\/p>\n<p>The ensemble\u2019s performance on March 1, at McKinley High School was recorded and combined with the animations shown at the concerts.
