UH<\/abbr> President Lassner at the 2019 IEEE<\/abbr> GLOBECOM<\/abbr> Conference<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> President David Lassner<\/strong> was a keynote speaker at the 2019 IEEE<\/abbr> (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Global Communications Conference<\/a>. The GLOBECOM<\/abbr> conference was held December 9–13 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.<\/p>\n

Lassner\u2019s presentation, “Advanced Networking for Research and Education: View from the Pacific,” discussed R&E Networking (REN<\/abbr>) updates in the Pacific. It also featured new initiatives that help include Pacific islands in global research and education networks, such as the Guam Open R&E Exchange<\/a>, the 3D<\/abbr> HoloCampus project<\/a> that connects Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and American Samoa for education, the PolyREN<\/abbr> initiative in French Polynesia, and the new submarine fiber systems<\/a> that link other island nations and economies.<\/p>\n
