ʻUluʻulu<\/span> Archives<\/a>, Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s moving image archive, presents Many Hands Make Light Work<\/em><\/a>, a documentary that honors artist Ruthadell Anderson and the many hands that helped her create the massive tapestries that have decorated the walls of the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Capitol for nearly 50 years.<\/p>\n

The film will be screened on November 10 at 4 p.m. at the 39th Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> International Film Festival (HIFF<\/abbr>), at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium Theatre in Iwilei. Tickets are free and available at hiff.org.<\/a><\/p>\n

A short video of the opening of the State Capitol in 1969, filmed by George Tahara, will precede the newly restored footage documenting the weavers\u2019 process, which was filmed by Web Anderson, Ruthadell\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n

The ʻUluʻulu<\/span> Archives, the official moving image archive of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, is meant “to perpetuate and share the rich moving image heritage of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> through the preservation of film and videotape related to the history and culture of Native Hawaiians and the people of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>.”<\/p>\n

The archives, a project of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Academy for Creative Media System and UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>, are located in the campus\u2019s library.<\/p>\n
