The 2019 inductees recognized on October 10 were <strong>Russell J. Hata<\/strong>, <strong>Lance M. Inouye<\/strong>, <strong>Micah A. K\u0101ne<\/strong>, <strong>Wendy Peterson<\/strong> and <strong>Wendy Tong Barnes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1992, more than 100 business professionals have been inducted into the Hall of Honor, representing a wide range of industries and exemplifying the best of business in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and the world. Honorees are selected for their leadership qualities and outstanding contributions to their profession, community and alma mater.<\/p>\n<p>With the support of the <a href=\"http:\/\/shidler.hawaii.edu\/alumni\/association\">Shidler Alumni Association<\/a>, nearly 600 professionals representing more than 70 companies attended the event to help raise funds for the Shidler College of Business. Proceeds support student scholarships, enrichment programs, alumni outreach and special student activities.<\/p>\n<h2>Hall of Honor inductees<\/h2>\n<p>Russell J. Hata is the chairman, president and <abbr title=\"chief executive officer\">CEO<\/abbr> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yhata.com\/\">Y. Hata &#38; <abbr title=\"company\">Co.<\/abbr>, Limited<\/a>, a 106-year-old, $330-million wholesale foodservice distributor with warehouses on <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Island, Maui and <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span>. Hata is credited with the company\u2019s turnaround in the 1990s and its current expansion, innovations and community engagement. He is the founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/chefzone.com\/\">ChefZone<\/a>, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s first foodservice club store and has acquired Koa Trading on <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> and King Food Service on <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and Maui. He expanded scholarship support for culinary students and the Culinary Institute of the Pacific\u2019s programs and competitions. Hata earned his <abbr title=\"Bachelor of Business Administration\">BBA<\/abbr> in finance and an <abbr title=\"Executive Master of Business Administration\">EMBA<\/abbr> from the Shidler College of Business.<\/p>\n<p>Lance M. Inouye is president and <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsinouye.com\/\">Ralph S Inouye <abbr title=\"limited company\">Co, Ltd<\/abbr> (<abbr>RSI<\/abbr>)<\/a>, a local construction company founded by his father Ralph S. Inouye in 1962. Inouye joined <abbr>RSI<\/abbr> in 1981 as an estimator and worked his way up to chief estimator and vice president, before being named president and <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> in 2002. With Inouye\u2019s guidance, <abbr>RSI<\/abbr> increased its revenues from $17 million to $67 million in 2017. Inouye is licensed to practice law in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and the <abbr title=\"united states\">U.S.<\/abbr> 9th Circuit. He earned a <abbr title=\"Juris Doctor\">JD<\/abbr> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a> and an <abbr>EMBA<\/abbr> from the Shidler College of Business.<\/p>\n<p>Micah A. K\u0101ne is the <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> and president of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Community Foundation (<abbr>HCF<\/abbr>)<\/a>, the state\u2019s largest and oldest foundation that transforms lives and improve communities. K\u0101ne is the third <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> and president in <abbr>HCF<\/abbr>\u2019s 100-year history. Before joining <abbr>HCF<\/abbr>, K\u0101ne was the chairman of the Hawaiian Homes Commission and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, chairman and executive director of the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Republican Party and the government affairs liaison for the Building Industry Association of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. He currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees for the Kamehameha Schools and as a director on the board of the Hawaiian Electric <abbr>Co.<\/abbr> He earned his <abbr title=\"Master of Business Administration\">MBA<\/abbr> from the Shidler College of Business.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Peterson is the general counsel of Knobbe Martens in Irvine, <abbr title=\"California\">CA<\/abbr>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knobbe.com\/\">Knobbe Martens<\/a> is one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the nation. Since 2002, Peterson has guided her firm on internal legal matters, such as ethics, contracts, real estate, employment, loss prevention and partnership governance. Throughout her career, Peterson has been devoted to giving back to the community and served on a number of boards, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/pace.shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (<abbr>PACE<\/abbr>)<\/a> at the Shidler College of Business. Peterson earned a <abbr>JD<\/abbr> from the William S. Richardson School of Law and a <abbr>BBA<\/abbr> in accounting from the Shidler College of Business.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Tong Barnes is the chief corporate affairs officer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ckah.com\/eng\/\"><abbr>CK<\/abbr> Asset Holdings Limited<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cki.com.hk\/english\/hongKong\/home\/index.htm\"><abbr>CK<\/abbr> Infrastructure Holdings Limited<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ck-lifesciences.com\/eng\/\"><abbr>CK<\/abbr> Life Sciences International, Inc.<\/a> Barnes serves as deputy <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huixianreit.com\/eng\/\">Hui Xian Asset Management Limited<\/a>.
