Scott to serve as the board\u2019s new chairman. At a meeting on September 30, the board named Scott to succeed attorney Richard Turbin, who had served his maximum term as chairman but will remain on the board as a member. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am thrilled and honored to work with East-West Center President Richard Vuylsteke, the board, and his talented team as we continue to position the Center to be a valuable resource for <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, America, and the Pacific,&rdquo; Scott said. <\/p>\n<p>Board member Peter Ho, chairman, president and <abbr title=\"Chief Executive Officer\">CEO<\/abbr> of Bank of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, was selected to succeed Scott as the board\u2019s <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> vice chair, joining continuing Vice Chair Kurt Campbell, who is chairman and <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> of The Asia Group and former <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. <\/p>\n<h2>About James K. Scott <\/h2>\n<p>James <span aria-label=\"Kapaealii\">Kapae&#699;alii<\/span> Scott was appointed to the East-West Center Board of Governors by <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Governor David Ige in May 2017. A Honolulu-born graduate of Punahou, Stanford and Harvard, Scott became Punahou School\u2019s 16th president in 1994 and served through June 2019.
