Volleyball standout Kaila Lizama<\/strong> and soccer star Crystal Sanchez<\/strong> are the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> Pepsi Athletes of the Week for the second week of September.<\/p>\n

Kaila Lizama<\/h2>\n

Senior libero Lizama played a big role in UH<\/abbr> Hilo’s volleyball success over the weekend at the D2 West Region Showcase. She had a total of 87 digs over four matches and also zipped in a service ace in three of the four contests. Her dig total ranked her second over the weekend in the Pacific West Conference. “Overall, she played some of the best defense that she has played during her time here, especially in the tougher matches,” said volleyball coach Chris Leonard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Crystal Sanchez<\/h2>\n

Junior transfer midfielder Sanchez helped the Vulcans end their long road trip on a winning note. The former College of the Canyons player had a pair of assists in UH<\/abbr> Hilo’s 4-2 win over Central Washington on Saturday. On the season, Sanchez leads the Vulcans in shots with 12, including six on goal.<\/p>\n
