Kick off the school year with the 2019 student-designed HI Pride T-shirt available at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Bookstore System<\/a>. This year\u2019s HI Pride T-Shirt Design Contest winner is UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa alumna JinLing Yan<\/strong> from Honolulu.<\/p>\n

Yan received 885 votes for her HI Pride design depicting the Hawaiian islands and the hibiscus. “The Hawaiian native yellow hibiscus is our state flower, and it perfectly represents the warmth from all of the people and our beautiful ʻaina,” she said.<\/p>\n

HI Pride T-shirt colors<\/h2>\n

The 2019 HI Pride shirts will be available in all UH<\/abbr> Bookstores from August 19. The shirts will be available in black, white and grey as well as all UH<\/abbr> campus colors:<\/p>\n

  • UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa—dark green<\/li>\n
  • UH<\/abbr> Hilo—bright red<\/li>\n
  • Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> CC<\/abbr>—pink<\/li>\n
  • UH<\/abbr> Maui College—dark blue<\/li>\n
  • UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>—dark red<\/li>\n
  • Honolulu CC<\/abbr>—teal<\/li>\n
  • Kauaʻi<\/span> CC<\/abbr>—purple<\/li>\n
  • Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr>—royal blue<\/li>\n
  • Leeward CC<\/abbr>—light blue<\/li>\n
  • Windward CC<\/abbr>—light green<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Students with a valid UH<\/abbr> ID<\/abbr> are eligible for a discount on the first shirt they purchase. Reusable bags featuring this year\u2019s HI Pride design will also be available.<\/p>\n

    More on the HI Pride design contest<\/h2>\n

    The annual HI Pride T-Shirt Design Contest\u2014now in its eighth year\u2014is held each spring and open to all UH<\/abbr> students. Students are asked to submit designs that show what HI Pride (or Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Pride) means to them. Semi-finalist designs are put online for a public vote.<\/p>\n
