UH<\/abbr> medical students prepare to distribute backpacks and other school supplies to homeless shelters.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With schools back in session this month, the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Homeless Outreach and Medical Education<\/a> (HOME<\/abbr>) project at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa’s John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM<\/abbr>) gathered and distributed school supplies for 400 children in need.<\/p>\n

Backpacks full of school-related items and financial donations poured in from the community, including the Elks Club in Waikīkī and the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset, as well as from JABSOM<\/abbr> faculty, staff and students.<\/p>\n

Medical students and other volunteers meticulously packed the school bags distributed to several homeless shelters in Honolulu, Kalaeloa, Māʻili<\/span> and Waiʻanae<\/span>.<\/p>\n
