More than 100 UH Hilo student-athletes receive academic honors

Vulcan student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher were honored.

The Player of the Year award is the fourth consecutive for a Rainbow Warrior and second straight for Thelle.

Hyeonji Kang and Mayumi Umezu were selected to the 2023 Big West All-Conference first and second teams, respectively.

UH Hilo men’s golfer Junsu Im and women’s tennis player McKenna Mountain were named KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week, April 5–18.

Randy Abshier is the only Big West pitcher to throw a shutout this year.

The 2022–23 H Awards were held on April 17 at the Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbow Warriors now head to the NCAA Tournament in Fairfax, Virginia on their quest for a third straight national championship.

The coed sailing team hosts the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Fleet Race Championship, April 21–22.

Andrew Otani and Junsu Im also placed as individual co-champions.

The UH Mānoa Athletics Department’s highest individual honor, the Jack Bonham Award was presented to Emma van Rossum and Jakob Thelle.
