University of Â鶹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ women¡¯s soccer freshman forward Olivia Dianda has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Dianda¡¯s first career weekly honor comes after a sensational weekend in which she scored her first two collegiate goals to spark the Rainbow Wahine offense during the OUTRIGGER Invitational.
The true freshman made an immediate impact during the tournament’s opening match on August 20 against Western Michigan. Dianda broke through in the second half of the match to score her first collegiate goal, tracking down a pass and clinically finding the bottom-left corner. In that contest, she earned the start on the front line and logged 48 minutes on the pitch, scoring on one of her three shot attempts.
The weekly accolade marks a historic milestone as Dianda becomes the first Rainbow Wahine player to earn a Mountain West weekly award since the program officially joined the conference.
The Rainbow Wahine return to action at the UH Lower Campus Field on August 29, hosting Â鶹´«Ã½ Pacific University at 4 p.m.
