Pepeluali (February) is Mahina ʻŌlelo Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Hawaiian Language Month), and the community is invited to celebrate at a series of free ʻōlelo Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Hawaiian language) fairs across the state.

Led by the UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ , Kanaeokana, and Kamehameha Schools Kaiāulu, the Ola Ka ʻĪ events will feature music, hula, storytelling, games, student performances, and a ho?ok¨±k¨± ha?i ʻōlelo (Hawaiian language speech competition).

The events honor the growing movement to revitalize ʻōlelo Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and encourage the use of the language in everyday life.

  • Ola Ka ʻĪ Kaua?i me Ni?ihau, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kukui Grove Center (Kauaʻi)

Ola Ka ʻĪ events are a chance for families, students and community members to experience and celebrate ʻōlelo Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and culture together. Whether fluent or just beginning to learn, organizers encourage everyone to join in.
